![]() ![]() I will say it has a great score!ĭonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest – Rare’s second spin in the world of Nintendo’s famous ape actually sidelines its headliner for Diddy to shine alongside a new friend Dixie, and honestly the game is much better for it. It’s fine, but not the best example of caveman based platforming on NSO (of which there is a surprising breadth of on the service…).ĭonkey Kong Country – One of the more demanded releases for the service finally arrives, and while I personally am lukewarm on the game as a whole, many enjoy the hop’n’bop platforming action Rare brought to the table here. It’s perfectly functional with a lot of exploration opportunities.Ĭongo’s Caper – This spin-off from Joe and Mac feels much more traditional in terms of collectable-based platformers, with some unique mechanics with enemy stunning and block breaking that help spice up the otherwise humdrum proceedings. Sadly, the localization is horrid and the experience curve is askew, but this is still a decent JRPG.Ĭlaymates – Outside of the racist antagonist (which explains the even more racist caricatures in Clayfighter 63 1/3), this is a pretty decent to good collectathon 2D platformer with a cute gimmick borrowed from Capcom’s Little Nemo The Dream Master. Sadly not as good as it could have been.īreath of Fire – Capcom’s second stab at RPG gameplay seems competent enough it’s definitely not as stunning as many of Square Enix’s offerings on the console, but it appears to be adequate for scratching that itch.īreath of Fire II – The sequel improves upon the original game in many ways, with a unique character combination system, a town building mechanic, and a far more grandiose world to explore. Limited continues on the NA version also hurts. The pinnacle of 2D action games, as well as Nintendo’s overall oeuvre.īrawl Brothers – The beat-em-up gameplay is pretty decent and has one of the best suplexes in all of gaming with Alice, but it’s got some cheap elements (don’t juggle me when I’m on the ground plz) and feels a little rough. Super Metroid – This is my #2 game of all time, so I think that ought to be enough praise, haha. While not my favorite in the pantheon, it’s still a fantastic action/adventure game worth playing. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past – A return to form for the series after the experimental Zelda II, Link to the Past set the gold standard for all of the entries to follow. Kirby Super Star – This delightful medley of Kirby platforming and mini games is an epic collection of gameplay goodness! Great visuals and a solid soundtrack round out the package. The battle engine is a little too Dragon Quest-y in terms of execution, and there’s a little confusion on how to actually beat the game, but I adore EarthBound and it’s easily one of the greatest games on the app. Incredible atmosphere, spritework and music back compelling gameplay that allows for a lot of exploration and challenging situations.ĮarthBound – The second best RPG on the system (behind Chrono Trigger) features some of the best localization of any Super Nintendo game, a fantastically bizarre and kooky world to explore, a ton of bops on the soundtrack, and a heartwarming story that just overflows so much heart. The Genesis Switch Online app is here.ĭemon’s Crest – Capcom’s final entry in Firebrand’s trilogy is easily the best. For the Game Boy Advance Switch Online app, visit here. For the Game Boy Switch Online app, check out here. I’m not going to reiterate my older work on games I’ve given the SNES Classic treatment to it’s all NEW content! I’m ranking the top 5 games currently available as “Winner!”, the five worst as “Sorry”, and the rest in “Probable”, just so you know what I’m doing. I’m going to give each a sentence or two to quickly summarize if they’re worth your time or not. I’m keeping tally of the Switch SNES Online selections here.
